About the seminar

Sweden has supported Ukraine's development for many years, but Russia's full-scale invasion changed the needs radically. In 2022, Sida contributed SEK 545 million to humanitarian aid, which helped millions of people affected by war.

But the long-term cooperation must continue as citizens need basic community services to return to everyday life. Identity documents, documentation of land properties or access to insurances and pensions are just a few examples of community services that are easily taken for granted. But when municipal buildings are bombed, IT systems destroyed and employees disappear, these will be eliminated.

Despite this, Ukraine's municipalities have been able to re-establish their social services after occupation and have been able to organise the reception of internally displaced persons. There is an impressive resilience that will rebuild Ukraine and support the people affected by the war.
