Working with men and boys in development cooperation

Development cooperation has an increasing focuson gender equality with the aim to improve womenand girls’ disadvantaged position and status.The focus is mostly on women and girls as targetgroups, while gender mainstreaming is the commonlyused strategy. What is often missing is theinter-relational lens of gender analysis; attention isconfi ned to one sex. It ignores men and boys’ situationand their infl uence on and relations withwomen and girls, as sisters, mothers, grandmothers,girlfriends, partners or other.
