Trade

Trade plays a key role for economic transformation and poverty alleviation. However, benefits are far from automatic and especially the extreme poor face major constraints to their ability to gain from trade. Policies need to be coherent and measures such as in education, infrastructure, rule of law and social protection often need to be strengthened in order to share the benefits of trade more widely and to address the risks. In 2017, Sweden contributed 3.2 bn SEKto the international Aid for Trade agenda and supports partner countries in their efforts to use trade as a means for development.
