Sida’s support to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

The EBRD was established in 1991, with the aim to promote development of openand sustainable market economies in countries in Central and Eastern Europecommittedto democratic principles. Today there are new challenges with morefocus on green economy and inclusion and new regions have been included to EBRDs area of operation.During 2016, the Bank invested over EUR 9.4 billion in 378 projects. Sida’scooperation with EBRD isbuilt around environment and climate change, gender equality, inclusive growth and employment. In2016, Sida provided more than SEK 200 million to the Bank, making Sida the third largest bilateral donor.
