Mid-Term Evaluation of Regional Economic Integration

Sida provides support to the programme “Regional Economic Integration through theAdoption of Competition and Consumer Policies in the Middle East and NorthAfrica” 2014-2018, implemented by the United Nations Conference on Trade andDevelopment (UNCTAD). The Embassy of Sweden in Cairo and UNCTAD agreed tocommission a midterm evaluation of the programme to take stock of progress andprepare the remaining period of implementation.The evaluation was commissioned to NIRAS under a framework agreement withSida, and conducted between April and June 2018 by a team composed of KimikoPedersen as team leader, John Lawrance as consumer protection expert and RichardMoody as trade law and competition policy expert. Research support and qualityassurance were provided by Sofia Strive and Mats Alentun, respectively.This report presents the findings, conclusions and recommendations of the mid-termevaluation.
