The planet is the fundamental resource on whichpeople rely for prosperity. Gender norms influencethe impact of people on the environment,the impact of environmental degradation onpeople, and access to and power over naturalresources. This brief gives an overview of thelinkages between gender and the environment indevelopment cooperation and on how policy andprogrammes can facilitate a more sustainableuse of resources, while empowering women atthe same time.
