Enterprise Development Programmes in Tanzania and Zambia

The Enterprise Development Programmes (EDPs) run 1995-2000 with the objective to encourage and facilitate growth in the private sectors in Tanzania and Zambia. In each country a Swedish consultancy firm administered the programme. According to the LFA, the target was to support 20-25 enterprises and establish at least 15 twinning relationships in each country. 54 companies in Tanzania and Zambia were screened and took part in training/counselling activities. However, in June 2003 only 6 of the partnerships established had survived. Overall the targets of the programmes were not achieved.
