Évaluation du Programme régional conjoint des Nations Unies en soutien à la coopération transfrontalière dans le Liptako-Gourma

This evaluation assesses the United Nations Joint Regional Programme’s support for cross-border cooperation in the Liptako-
Gourma region, involving Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. Funded by SIDA and implemented by eight UN agencies, the program aimed
to address issues of security, governance, and resilience in the region. The evaluation seeks to inform future joint program initiatives,
highlighting both lessons learned and areas for improvement. The program was highly relevant to regional needs and effectively
targeted key areas. However, challenges in coordination, reporting, and synergy among agencies reduced its overall effectiveness.
Nevertheless, the program contributed meaningfully to cross-border cooperation and laid a foundation for future initiatives.
Recommendations include simplifying governance structures, enhancing coordination among implementing agencies, ensuring
proactive development of synergies, and reinforcing program flexibility. For future programs, it is advised that funding focuses on a
more limited number of UN agencies, with clearer roles and responsibilities to improve effectiveness.
