Sammanfattning
This evaluation assesses the achievements and lessons learnt from the project ‘Promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and
Rights (SRHR) and Reducing Maternal Mortality in Zambia’ which was implemented from 2018 to 2022. The evaluation covers issues
related to relevance, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability. The evaluation shows that, overall, Ipas has achieved – and often
surpassed – its objectives and targets for training, material support and service provision, and that in order to achieve effectiveness
in enhancing the quality and quantity of comprehensive abortion care it has been necessary to influence public attitudes and
enhance the voice of those receiving services. The evaluation recommends that Ipas should design future programming to better
clarify and differentiate where national policy-related interventions are needed and where local service provision is more relevant.
Future programming should continue to be built on these two pillars. Ipas and Sida should jointly explore how services can be made
more financially sustainable and how to continue to ensure the accountability of duty bearers to women and girls in need of
abortion-related services.
