Human Rights for LGBTQi Persons

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ)1 people often experience extreme forms of oppression and discrimination throughout the globe based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. LGBTIQ is an acronym describing specific identities for sexual and gender minorities (SGMs) and is a way of categorizing persons of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC). The term LGBTIQ is used globally, and the meanings and usage may vary in different contexts.
