About Sida

Sida – the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency – is a government agency. Our mission is part of the national policy for global development and we strive to reduce world poverty. Sida’s activities are funded through Swedish tax revenue.

For a better world together

We strive to reduce world poverty by allocating resources and knowledge with the goal of making a difference for people in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. To achieve this, we collaborate with actors from civil society and universities as well as the public and private sector.

Sida is guided by strategies

Swedish development cooperation and humanitarian assistance is governed by strategies decided by the Swedish government. The strategies set the objectives for Swedish development cooperation and determine what Sida can support.

Organisation

Sida consists of eight departments, internal audit and the Director-General’s office. Five departments work with implementing the development cooperation and three with support, management and control. A large proportion of the contribution management is delegated to Sweden’s foreign missions.
