Sida's work in Haiti
Providing people with shelter, education and food is at the centre of Sida's humanitarian work in Haiti. People are severely affected by political instability, economic collapse, increased violence, acute food shortages and natural disasters. Armed violence increased sharply in 2024 and disrupts hospitals and schools, affecting health services and preventing children from attending school.
Sida's work in Haiti
Sida provides humanitarian support to Haiti to save lives and alleviate suffering in emergency situations. The support is flexible as the situation can change rapidly in the extremely unpredictable and violent environment.
Sida’s humanitarian support provides people with access to food, healthcare, education, shelter and clean water. Sida works with international humanitarian and civil society organisations and prioritises the people most in need of support.

Haiti does not have a Swedish country strategy for development cooperation as it is not one of the countries prioritised for development cooperation by the Swedish government. However, Sida implements a small amount of development cooperation through regional or global strategies.
