A large part of Sida's support goes to civil society organisations. Sida cooperates with civil society organisations in development cooperation and humanitarian aid.

Cooperation within the CSO Strategy (2025-2029)

Sida's work with civil society is guided by the Swedish Government's Strategy for Sweden's Development Cooperation with Civil Society 2025-2029. Here you will find information about current, ongoing, and upcoming calls for proposals, as well as information about how Sida works with the process and selection.

Upcoming calls

New call in 2027 – In accordance with the CSO strategy, Sida plans to issue a new call for larger grants in 2027, corresponding to the one issued in 2024. The plan is to sign new agreements from 2028 onwards.

How the CSO strategy is implemented

Sida has agreements with both Swedish and foreign partners to implement the strategy. New partners are appointed through competition between applicants in open calls for proposals.

Sida also welcomes smaller Swedish organisations that have not previously been partners of the agency to apply for support. Calls for proposals are issued annually.

Cooperation within the humanitarian strategy

Sida has multi-year agreements with humanitarian organisations from civil society, the UN and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Sida's humanitarian aid is guided by the Government's strategy.
