On 4 December 2025, the Government decided to phase out Sweden's bilateral strategies in Liberia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Bolivia and to close the embassies in Monrovia, Harare and La Paz. All initiatives will be terminated by 31 August 2026 at the latest. Humanitarian aid will not be affected, and Sida will continue to implement programmes through regional and thematic strategies.
