Sida Decentralised Evaluation
Ian Christoplos , Francisco Sagasti , Mario Bazan
This evaluation of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) reviews the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of the work of one of Sida’s longest standing partners, having received support since 1998. Findings demonstrate that CLACSO is a highly effective institution, and is very relevant to the objectives of Swedish research cooperation in terms of a poverty focus, developing the capacity of young researchers and innovation, building on close engagement with civil society. A notable shift has been made in recent years to engaging weaker insti-tutions from Central America in the network. Significant progress has been made in enhancing sustainability.
