Swedish Nuclear Non-Proliferation Assistance Programme in Russia and Latvia
The security promotion support to Central and Eastern Europe was initiated in the early 1990s. The Swedish Nuclear Power Inspectorate has conducted bilateral co-operation projects in the field of non-proliferation of nuclear materials in several countries in the region. This study focuses on Russia and Latvia. The overall assessment is that the support is higly relevant and has contributed to the development of the non-proliferation work in these countries. Some recommendations, primarily as concerns methods and organisation, are made.
