Distribution of Second Hand Clothes in Angola Implemented by Practical Solidarity
Lennart Peck , Natália Pinto
The Swedish NGO, Practical Solidarity, has shipped second hand clothes to Angola for many years. One channel has been the Social Ministry (MINARS) who have mainly distributed clothes as disaster relief. Another channel has been PROMODES, a commercial activity set up by an Angolan NGO, ADRA. PROMODES commercialises clothes (and other products) with the dual purpose of generating funds for the development projects of ADRA and to strengthen rural trade. The evaluation took place duringthe spring of 2003 trough desk research and interviews with stakeholders in Luanda and Benguela.
