The project was coordinated by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and implemented together with national focal points in nine countries, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam. The project had three components: capacity-building, demonstration of cleaner production and energy efficiency options in selected industrial plants and a study on barriers to improving energy efficiency. SIDA funding for the project amounted to $1,950,991. The evaluation was conducted as an in-depth evaluation using a participatory approach whereby the GERIAP project coordinator and a number of other relevant key stakeholders were consulted.
