    Sida’s disbursements to sustainable service development amounted to SEK 1 491 million in 2008, distributed over 341 contributions. This corresponds to 10% of Sida’s total disbursements in 2008, down from 13% in 2006. The disbursements over the period 2006–2008 have decreased by one fourth, from SEK 1 968 million in 2006.

    Världens länder har förbundit sig att minska mödradödligheten med 75 procent mellan 1990 och 2015 i det femte av millenniemålen. Men mödradödligheten har inte minskat alls i låginkomstländerna de senaste 20 åren. Det är det enda av millenniemålen som hittills inte lett till något resultat. Sverige satsar redan nu nästan fyra miljarder kronor på hälso- och sjukvård, inklusive mödrahälsa.
