SAREC Support to International and Regional Thematic Research Programs 2000-2005
This study is part of a larger assessment of Sida's support to research and research cooperation. The purpose of the study is to assess the thematic portfolio (channels and themes), its effectiveness and relevance and to assess Sida's processes for handling the support. The study concludes that Sida is a highly appreciated organisation and valued partner. The choices made in the portfolio are seen as generally relevant. It points to the shortage of staff at Sida resulting in limited monitoring, limited time for strategic reflections, and restricted possibilities for interactions with partners. The study furthermore recommends Sida to increase its work on communication and dissemination with e.g. e-newsletter and increased use of the web.
