The initial phase of SASNET, a network created through a grant from Sida/SAREC and Lund's University in 2000 to establish an institutional base in Sweden for academic competence building on South Asia, has been evaluated. The evaluation outlines the achievements of SASNET in relation to the aims outset at the beginning and constates remarkable achivements in the field of visibility through an internet gateway and a planning grants program that in a long term perspective may promote scholarly capacity in Sweden on South Asia.
