The field of population and family planning has long centred its attention on women in efforts to reduce high fertility rates. In the now more inclusive field of sexual and reproductive health, as articulated in the international conferences in Cairo 1994 and in Beijing 1995, the individual needs, choices and rights feature more centrally. The inclusive of mens reproductive health and rights concerns and their roles and responsibilities vis-à-vis their partners/wives sexual and reproductive health is now increasingly recognised as a central issue.
