The Vi Planterar Träd Foundation, Vi-Skogen, is a major Swedish NGO involved in tree planting and soil conservation activities in countries around Lake Victoria since 1983, when the activities started in West Pokot District in Kenya. Later the project expanded to the neighbouring Trans Nzoia District, Masaka and Rakai in Uganda and further to the two Districts of Musoma and Mwanza in Tanzania. In the mid 90s the Program underwent a major change by transforming from a tree seedling producer and distributer to a provider of technical services in holistic agroforestry techniques. In the process the Program was renamed to the Vi Agroforestry Program.
