HIV, AIDS and urban development issues in sub-Saharan Africa
Cecilie Ambert , Katja Jassey , Liz Thomas
This report summary shows that urban development has much more to offer HIV prevention than merely adding an awareness-raising component or condom distribution activity to existing programmes. It is high time that this is ecognised by those engaged in HIV and AIDS programming. At the same time, it is equally important that those who work towards improving the lives of those living in urban areas in sub-Saharan Africa, especially slum-dwellers, realise that their work cannot be done without taking the impact of the HIV epidemic into consideration.
