Gender, HIV/AIDS transmission and impacts: a review of issues and evidence

This study reviews the existing statistical data available to describe how HIV/AIDS is affecting men and women differently, drawing on data on reported AIDS cases, data from sero-prevalence surveys and estimates of overall HIV/AIDS trends based on these aand other indicators. As well as reporting the patterns and trends, the report axamines tthe limitations of the data available. Some tentative recommendations are made about ways to improve data collection and analysis from a gender perspective.
