Democratisation and Armed Conflicts

Mimmi Söderberg, Thomas Ohlson
This paper has sought to problemize previously prevailing conceptions about the process of democratisation in developing countries and how that process relates to phenomena such as state building, institutionbuilding,
civil society and the security sector.
The primary focus has been on the potential for intra-state conflict and political violence in the context of democratisation processes. The method has been one of reviewing recent literature on democratisation in weak states in order to find a pattern in the most up-to-date academic findings in the field.
