Health Division, Department for democray and social development
Health and poverty are closely linked. Sick people are more likely to become poor and poor are more vulnerable to catch diseases and become disabled. Health plays a central role in fighting poverty. However, health is more than doctors, nurses, medicine, hospitals, and health centres. Much that determines health lie outside the direct control of the health sector. Sidas strategy for health related development co-operation focuses on the most vulnerable.
To achieve improved health Sida has a wide and multifaceted approach.
