Almost all donor and partner governments have explicitly committed to realising the rights of children by signing the Convention of the Rights of the Child. The Swedish Government has reaffirmed this commitment through in the Government Report The Rights of the Child as a Perspective in Swedish Development Co-operation (2002).
The Convention of the Rights of the Child celebrated 20 years in 2009 but so far rather few evaluations have been carried out about the results of supporting Child Rights in development co-operation.
Sida and NFA/Norad are jointly carrying out an evaluation on the process and results of working with a child rights perspective as well as intervention directly targeting children. The evaluation includes country case studies in Guatemala, Sudan, Kenya and Mozambique. Lessons from all country case studies will be synthesized in a Final Evaluation Synthesis Report. The evaluation will be completet in 2010.
