Institutions and democratic governance are widely seen as key enablers for inclusive growth and sustainable development. Transparency, accountability and the rule of law are essential for people to empower themselves and to become drivers of development. The global conversation on the development agenda beyond 2015 is already well underway. As a prerequisite for an inclusive global development, should not democratic governance and institutions be at the forefront of this conversation; and are they really?
