Large scale agricultural investment for more jobs in Tanzania

A commercial loan on SEK 120 million will allow for a comprehensive agricultural investment and thousands of jobs in Tanzania, involve 1 500 farming households and give at least another 10 000 people in the local area opportunities for increased revenue.

 "We see this as an innovative project at two levels. It will become one of the first agricultural projects in the country where a new model for land investments is applied, which means that the state becomes a shareholder in the project. The project will furthermore contribute to raise the standards in the country in terms of participation and compensation for people who need to move in connection with land investments, says Georg Andrén, Director for Sida's Africa Department."
