ITP Reunion in Hanoi
Vietnam has more than 600 alumni across the country who have participated in courses, since 1994, in various topics. Many of them were able to take part in the event that aimed at vitalising a network of professionals with a tie to Sweden. It was an informal event with speeches given by Ambassador Camilla Mellander, Deputy Head of Mission Maria Selin, and two of the ITP alumni Mr Le Van Tho and Mr Do Nguyen Viet Hung.
It was an evening with high spirits and many of the participants expressed their appreciation of the training programme and of Sweden as well as their desire for future contact. Some of them even believed Sweden to be the best country they have had the chance to visit! Ambassador Mellander replied by announcing that the Embassy will host a yearly alumni event.
With the phasing out of the bilateral development cooperation it is even more important to make an effort to nurture important networks. The ITP alumni is a great asset to the Embassy and Sweden and the response from the participants was fantastic. ITP is a valued programme and must continue – not the least to contribute to strong bilateral relations.
