Gender mainstreaming in research cooperation

Updated: 7 March 2016

On the occasion of the international women’s day on March 8, Sida would like to highlight the importance of gender mainstreaming in research cooperation.

One of Sidas’ goals is to increase the possibilities for female researchers to have a fair opportunity to compete successfully in the international scientific arena. An example for how this is done is the Sida supported organisation OWSD (Organization for Women Science for the developing World) that funds scholarships for women PhD-students. These scholarships cover living expenses and costs related to research activities so that the women can focus full time on their field of research.
