By cooperating with USAID, Sida wants to contribute to more innovations that benefit people living in poverty. One example is a method that allows the cultivation of pumpkins on previous waste lands in Bangladesh. The method was developed by the organization Practical Actions.

Kenyan dairy farmer Henry Mungai and his family have taken several loans through a microfinance bank and been able to invest in their farm. Sida guarantees the bank loans as a risk sharing facility to encourage banks to venture into agriculture lending especially to farmers who do not have any of the usual collateral.  

Financing for development

Eradicating world poverty and creating sustainable development requires more money than what development cooperation can contribute. Sida has been commissioned by the Swedish government to find new potential actors who can work together for sustainable global development.
