Would you like to expand your network of contacts among Swedish companies and Swedish development aid organisations? Sida and other Swedish and foreign groups organise regular forums and meetings for people who trade with, or operate in, both Sida’s partner countries and regions where a considerable proportion of the population lives in poverty.

Sida’s networks and forums for companies

Sida Development Area is a forum for new ideas in the field of development cooperation. The goal is to help improve development aid and encourage discussions on the theme of global development. Guest speakers offer their views on challenges involved in development work, and participants include key figures from the business community, NGO:sand government agencies. Examples of topics include "Trade and Growth in Africa", "Climate Change, Food Security and Poverty Reduction”, “HIV Prevention", "Gender Equality and Business Actors".

Partner-driven cooperation at Sida

Sida’s remit includes encouraging cooperation between companies, institutions, governments and civil society organisations in Sweden and abroad. Sida’s focus in this area is on China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Serbia. Partner-driven cooperation is a programme that offers a degree of support – either in terms of know-how and contacts, or limited financial support – in order to help establish a partnership.

Baltic Sea Cooperation

Sida’s Baltic Sea Division works to increase cooperation between the countries in the Baltic Sea region. The program does not involve companies directly but offers companies – through some of its projects – the chance to establish new contacts and create networks.

Meetings at Sweden’s embassies

Most of Sweden’s embassies organise various get-togethers, where Swedish companies are given the opportunity to meet politicians, agency staff and business leaders from the region. The embassies also invite Swedish companies operating in the country to participate in briefings in order to opinions and ideas concerning Sida’s and Sweden’s projects in the country. You can find more information about this on the website of each respectiveSwedish embassy.

Stakeholder meetings for country strategies

Every five years or so, new country strategies are formulated for the countries in which Sida operates. The government convenes stakeholder meetings in connection with this work, inviting representatives from Swedish companies to take part.
