Funding aimed at companies' customers

Funding aimed at companies’ customers

There are several opportunities for customers of companies to apply for Sida investment in infrastructure projects or other kinds of projects that are in line with the country’s ”country strategy”. Government agencies or governments can apply and sometimes also companies.

Sweden no longer requires the subcontractors in these projects to be Swedish companies. The goal is always for the country to use the best and most cost-effective supplier.

Sida provides loans and guarantees

Financial support to major projects and infrastructure projects is often provided via loans or guarantees. The loans are always given to a government agency or to the government in the country involved, but guarantees can also be given to companies. The purpose of this is to pave way for investments that are important to the society, and that otherwise would not take place. In April 2009, the system of credits and guarantees was reorganised, and special environmental loans and guarantees were established. They are for environmental-, climate- and energy-related investments.

Support to infrastructure projects - PIDG

The Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) focuses on supporting infrastructure projects. Sida is one of the founders of the organisation. Both private and state companies, such as railway companies, ports, telecommunication companies and road authorities, can apply for support via PIDG, which besides providing guarantees and loans, can also help with knowledge about how its cooperation partners can get the most out of their investment.
