New forms of dialogue and collaboration

Here is a selection of possible routes to take for dialogue and collaboration. Some are at the development stage, and others are almost ready to be launched. Follow developments at www.sida.se/näringsliv and please provide your own points of view and ideas, the B4D programme is being continuously developed.

Some areas to work in:

 

Corporate Sustainability (CS)
Collaboration where Sida can support initiatives which stimulate industry to assume responsibility for sustainable development - from a social, economic and environmental point of view.

Challenge Funds
Companies invited to compete for support for development concepts. One example is preliminary studies or contributions to pilot plants.
DemoEnvironment

Sida’s Public Private Partnership-programme (SPPP)  
Collaboration with, in particular, major companies on supplementation of value chains and joint financing of important projects. Sida can for example finance support for subsistence farmers so that they can become acquainted with new markets that come about through the company’s investments.

Innovative financing
New forms of financial solutions aimed at mobilising private capital channelled towards major investments needed to provide food, reduce the climate threat and reinforce the fight against sicknesses which primarily affect people in poverty.

Funding Innovation Business in Africa  is an inititative funded by Sida aiming at establishing markets in post-conflict areas.

Market Transformation
Collaboration between voluntary organisations and private companies for transforming markets and methods of production. This in turn contributes to a better environment and incomes for individual people.

Innovations against Poverty
Sida is developing a programme to encourage innovations that reduce poverty. Read about the programme here:

The Innovations Against Poverty Programme will be managed by an implementing organization and a international procurement process is ongoing. Tender invitation can be found at Kommers Annons 

Social entrepreneurship
Collaboration with companies wishing to contribute to development for poor people by reinvesting profits in the business and the health, training and environment of the employees.

Cluster construction
Support for a central operator that introduces Swedish players to interesting contacts in the developing countries. It could be a cluster of companies, researchers, organisations and authorities.
MeetingPoints Mining

Organisational support
Support to organisations in trade and industry that work with sustainable development and fight poverty.

NU-organisation (the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs)
Discussions between industry, the authorities and government representatives in the government’s Industry and Development Council. Both in Sweden and in those countries where Sida operates.

Dialogue partner
Continual dialogue with companies in Sweden, internationally and in the collaborating countries, on for example identifying obstacles to development and creating a good investment climate.

Project search
The service, in collaboration with the Swedish Trade Council, provides advanced information on future tenders for projects in developing countries.

Competence and experience
Sida develops programmes and arenas within Sida Partnership Forum to strengthen companies' role and potential in development cooperation.

International Training Programmes

As part of Sida's work with capacity and institutional development Sida offers international training programmes (ITP) for participants from low-and middle-income countries in priority areas. ITP's methodology takes account of the desire to develop and reform that the participants' organization have expressed in their application to the program.
