Funding support to civil society organisations

How to apply for funding

Published: Tuesday, June 23, 2009

The funding support is available to the 15 framework organisations with which Sida has entered into framework agreements. Framework organisations need to contribute at least ten percent of the total funding on projects or programs.

Who can apply

The CSO grant is available to framework organisations – those Swedish CSOs with which Sida has entered into framework agreements - and their respective development partners. In 2009, there are 15 framework organisations.

Co-funding requirement

Framework organisations need to contribute at least ten percent of the total funding on projects or programs funded by Sida.

The main aim is that CSOs will raise their own contributions and define their own priorities; Sida’s funding should be seen as a complement to their funding.

Regulation

Framework agreements and any funding provided by Sida are regulated in the following documents:

  • Guidelines for Grants from the Appropriation for NGOs describes the main requirements for funding applications, including content, reports and other requirements for each appropriation grant.
  • General Conditions for Grants to Swedish NGOs notes the key conditions that regulate grants from Sida to Swedish NGOs. The conditions constitute a part of the NGO's agreement with Sida.

Deadlines

Framework organisations need to submit their proposals for program/project support by October 1 of any given year.  After Sida performs an assessment, final decisions are made no later than December 15.

International Training Programmes

As part of Sida's work with capacity and institutional development Sida offers international training programmes (ITP) for participants from low-and middle-income countries in priority areas. ITP's methodology takes account of the desire to develop and reform that the participants' organization have expressed in their application to the program.
