How we work

The cooperation strategies end in 2013 but partner driven cooperation continues as such

December 2013 is the last month of the bilateral cooperation strategies with the seven selective countries. No new country-specific strategies are planned. The budget bill states, however, that some parts of partner driven cooperation will continute, but it is still unclear how.

Sida can not give an answer to whether this means new opportunities to support collaborations in selective partner countries, namely India, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Namibia, South Africa and Botswana.

   - Sida interprets the budget bill as partner driven cooperation will continue as assistance form but not to be bound by bilateral countries. We now have to work together with the parties involved in order to summarize our experiences and results, says Åsa Hedén, acting Head of selective cooperation at Sida.

From the Swedish side there is a strong desire to continue to deepen and broaden the close relations between Sweden and the selective partner countries.

   - The government has stated that Sweden among other things will seek to increase the commercial exchange, says Åsa Hedén.

International Training Programmes

As part of Sida's work with capacity and institutional development Sida offers international training programmes (ITP) for participants from low-and middle-income countries in priority areas.
