The bilateral cooperation strategies end in 2013

December 2013 is the last month of the bilateral cooperation strategies with the seven selective countries. No new country-specific strategies are planned. The budget bill states, however, that some parts of partner driven cooperation will continute, but it is still uncler how.

Many links between Sweden and South Africa date back to the struggle against apartheid. In the late 1990s, two cities deepened their relations and commenced long-term cooperation with support from Sida. Today, Gothenburg and Nelson Mandela Bay enjoy a lively cooperation that benefits development on many different fronts in both cities.

Cooperation improves care of sick children in Vietnam and Sweden

Lund University Hospital has commenced a six-year collaboration with a children’s hospital in northern Vietnam. The objective is to develop care so that more children in the region can survive severe cancer conditions. At the same time, Swedish doctors and nurses are gaining unique knowledge on paediatric care and research in another country.

International Training Programmes

As part of Sida's work with capacity and institutional development Sida offers international training programmes (ITP) for participants from low-and middle-income countries in priority areas. ITP's methodology takes account of the desire to develop and reform that the participants' organization have expressed in their application to the program.
