Clean Up Georgia
The aim of the programme is to clean up Georgia to challenge waste management in the country through awareness campaigns, introducing new systems (3R-Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and modern methods to Georgia’s population.
A campaign has been carried out “Communities caring for nature” with almost 30 000 persons participating in clean up activities. Municipal waste management in 56 communities and 4 cities has been mapped and a database with analysis and reports developed. A watchdog network is monitoring cleaned areas and a web-site has been created .
Adjara Solid Waste Project
The project will build a landfill facility compliant with European Union directives to serve the coastal region of Adjara in Western Georgia.
The facility will be strategically located near the three largest municipalities Batumi, Kobuleti and Khelvachauri districts, also the port, oil terminal and most industries and hotels. The project comprises the components related to closure of Batumi and Kobuleti old landfills too.
