    Industrial companies in Hyderabad, India need knowledge and technology to purify waste water. In collaboration with IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, they are enhancing their expertise and are now considering holistic solutions for polluted water. The cooperation has been supported initially by Sida. This is helping open doors for Swedish environmental technology companies seeking to enter the Indian market.

    Every day, 15,000 women in the world die due to pregnancy complications and childbirth. Maternal mortality claims more victims on a daily basis than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined. In India, Sida is providing support to train midwives to ensure better maternal health care for women and safer childbirths.

International Training Programmes

As part of Sida's work with capacity and institutional development Sida offers international training programmes (ITP) for participants from low-and middle-income countries in priority areas. ITP's methodology takes account of the desire to develop and reform that the participants' organization have expressed in their application to the program.
