    I voted for the first time in my life

    It was a great feeling and very emotional for me, because women in our country have not previously been allowed to vote. So says Zainab on the referendum held in early 2011 with support from Sida.

    Corruption harms the whole of society

    In Africa's youngest nation, South Sudan, corruption is rife; Government funds disappear and pensions and wages are not paid out as they should be. This affects salaried employees such as Arsenio Beda Ladu, teacher at Buluk Primary School in Juba.

    Theatre plays and advice encourages women voters

    UN Women, which Sida supports, was working on many fronts to highlight women’s rights in conjunction with the election, and to get women to run as candidates and to go to the ballot box. Gender advisors and theatre plays were two ways of achieving this target.

Sweden's aid - open and internationally comparable

Openaid.se is a web-based information service about Swedish aid built on open government data. The data is published according to the international IATI-standard, which means that it is freely available and compatible with data from other countries and donors.

International Training Programmes

As part of Sida's work with capacity and institutional development Sida offers international training programmes (ITP) for participants from low-and middle-income countries in priority areas. ITP's methodology takes account of the desire to develop and reform that the participants' organization have expressed in their application to the program.
