    Beekeeping a way of saving Mali's ecosystem

    In order to preserve Mali’s threatened forests, people need to find new ways of supporting themselves. instead of cutting down trees, villagers are given the opportunity to invest in beekeeping, animal husbandry or horticulture. The extra incomes make women and men less vulnerable when drought strikes, at the same time as forest resources are not overexploited.

    Reliable and comparable statistics are vital for governments to make important decisions. Statistics reveal connections that make it possible to produce more effective policies. In Mali, the lack of resources has been limiting the country’s ability to produce good statistics for a long time.

International Training Programmes

As part of Sida's work with capacity and institutional development Sida offers international training programmes (ITP) for participants from low-and middle-income countries in priority areas. ITP's methodology takes account of the desire to develop and reform that the participants' organization have expressed in their application to the program.
