    Reducing child mortality is a priority

    War, political instability, malnutrition, small health budget and bad roads – reasons why the child mortality rate in the DR Congo ranks among the highest in the world are many. UNICEF’s health programme for child survival will help building up the country's health care and reduce mortality both among children as well as their mothers.

    The fight against sexual and gender based violence in eastern DR Congo

    Women in eastern DR Congo are subject to horrific abuse. It originates in conflicts over land rights, ethnic groups and control of the rich mineral resources of the area. Sida supports a specific intervention against sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) in these provinces.

International Training Programmes

As part of Sida's work with capacity and institutional development Sida offers international training programmes (ITP) for participants from low-and middle-income countries in priority areas. ITP's methodology takes account of the desire to develop and reform that the participants' organization have expressed in their application to the program.
