Our work in Botswana

Sweden and Botswana have had large-scale development cooperation since Botswana’s independence in 1966. The main purpose of the cooperation has been to reduce poverty and increase Botswana’s economic independence.

Botswana Speaks

Botswana Speaks is an eDemocracy project that will enable citizens, traditional leaders and local kgotla assemblies in four constituencies of Botswana to share their views and policy concerns with their elected representative. TechTrends Nigeria edition writes about the intervention that is an example of partner driven cooperation between Botswana and Sweden.

International Training Programmes

As part of Sida's work with capacity and institutional development Sida offers international training programmes (ITP) for participants from low-and middle-income countries in priority areas. ITP's methodology takes account of the desire to develop and reform that the participants' organization have expressed in their application to the program.
