“Securing Climate Adaptable Energy Services for Low Income Countries: Issues, Challenges and Implementation”

On the 23rd of Februari the Swedish stakeholders met the World Bank for a discussion about their new energy policy and how to secure climate adaptable energy services for low income countries.

The World Bank is currently in the process of developing a new energy policy. During the seminar they presented the current involvement and future policy for the support of the energy sector to developing countries in the light of the world development report, COP negotiations and the Climate Change Agenda.
The seminar looked at the challenges regarding energy access, economic development and the climate change.

Presentations

E.g. Jamal Saghir, Director, Energy, Transport and Water at the World Bank, presented the need for low cost energy services and discussed the World Bank's new energy policy.

Anders Wijkman, Vice President Tällberg Foundation and former member of the European Parliament, talked about sustainable energy for the poor. 

There was a various of other presentations in relation to energy access and climate change, roundtables and discussions, amongst others Lasse Gustavsson Director General of the WWF participated. More information is found in the agenda to the left.
